In simple words
Who buys it, and where to start
Mineral collectors, jewellery makers, hobby gem cutters and crystal shops buy these online, often on eBay and Etsy. They value stones with a clear and honest place of origin.
Good first products
- Tumbled stones: They are small, light and low cost, and suit gift sets and crystal shops.
- Faceted bead strands: Jewellery makers buy them again and again, sorted by bead size.
- Quartz clusters: Crystal buyers like quartz from the northern mountains in a range of sizes.
Be careful with
- Never sell treated or heated stones as natural; always say if a stone has been treated.
- Costly gems like emerald and ruby are easy to misjudge, so learn grading before you buy them.
- Avoid vague origin labels; collectors want the exact place a specimen came from.

How to start
First steps
- Buy a small mixed lot from a trusted Peshawar or Gilgit dealer and check every stone with a loupe (a small magnifying glass).
- Weigh and measure each piece, and write down the exact locality the seller gives you.
- List tumbled stones or bead strands on Etsy before you try costly specimens.
Rules in plain words
What to check
Minerals from Gilgit-Baltistan may need export permits, and lapis that comes from Afghanistan needs origin papers. Always state treatments and the true weight. Kids' rock kits fall under children's product rules, so testing may be needed.
- Some items are heavy, bulky or perishable. Sell them wholesale (in bulk to shops), not as single parcels. (3 product types)
- Children's products: they need safety tests for small parts, cords and chemicals before you sell them. (1 product types)

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Where do Pakistani gem sellers buy stones?
Many buy at Peshawar's Namak Mandi gem market or from dealers in Gilgit-Baltistan and Swat. Buy small at first and check each stone before you spend more.
Why does locality matter?
Collectors pay more when they know exactly where a specimen was mined, such as the Shigar Valley. Only write a locality you can trust.
Can I say crystals heal people?
It is safer not to. Describe the stone, its size and its origin, and let buyers decide what it means to them.
