Stores we have built and run
Headless and PWA storefront design creates app-like shopping experiences on frameworks such as Next.js, Alokai (formerly Vue Storefront), ScandiPWA or Adobe’s PWA Studio, with Adobe Commerce as the back end. For stores already on an older PWA, the first job is deciding whether to keep, migrate or rebuild.
Keep, migrate or rebuild?
Our recommendation for stores on an existing PWA depends on three things.
- It works and converts
- Your team can maintain it
- Upgrades are manageable
- Framework is ageing
- Hard to hire for
- Move to Next.js, Alokai or Edge Delivery
- Headless is no longer needed
- Speed is the main goal
- Hyvä or Breeze is cheaper to run
Why it matters
What an app-like storefront should deliver
Which frontend?
| Option | Good fit when |
|---|---|
| Next.js Commerce | Your team works in React |
| Alokai | You want a composable, multi-backend frontend |
| ScandiPWA | You want a Magento-specific React PWA |
| Edge Delivery | Content-heavy Adobe Commerce stores |

Questions before you book
Frequently asked questions
Is Vue Storefront still around?
Yes, under a new name: Vue Storefront became Alokai in March 2024.
Should I keep my PWA Studio storefront?
If it works and your team can maintain it, keep it and update carefully. If upgrades are painful, compare a move to Edge Delivery, Next.js or a Hyvä or Breeze theme.
Will moving off our old PWA hurt SEO?
Not if the new frontend renders on the server and every changed URL gets a 301 redirect. We compare indexing in Search Console after launch.
Can our React developers take it over after launch?
Yes. We document the components and hand over the repository, or keep working alongside your team.
