In simple words
Who buys it, and where to start
Garment makers, towel and bag makers, fabric traders and printers abroad. They buy by the metre, roll or kilo, usually in large orders.
Good first products
- Cotton canvas / duck fabric by the metre (B2B): Bag, apron and tent makers use canvas, and some buy smaller rolls.
- Terry fabric by the metre (B2B): Small towel and bathrobe makers abroad buy terry by the roll.
- Spunbond non-woven fabric (B2B): It is used for shopping bags and covers, and printers buy it in rolls.
Be careful with
- This is a bulk, low-margin trade. Small orders by courier usually cost too much to make money.
- Never ship without written specs: weight per square metre (GSM), width, count and colour.

How to start

- List the fabric on B2B sites such as Alibaba or contact garment makers directly.
Rules in plain words
What to check
Fabric sold to businesses needs clear specs and fibre content. Some buyers ask for test reports or certificates such as OEKO-TEX, so ask mills which ones they hold.
Most products here need no special licence. Label the material honestly.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can I sell fabric on Etsy?
Some people sell small cuts of fabric on Etsy, but this family is mainly for bulk buyers. Rolls and cones are heavy, so freight and order size matter a lot.
What is grey (greige) fabric?
It is woven fabric straight off the loom, not yet bleached, dyed or printed. Other factories finish it into the final cloth. PFD means prepared for dyeing.
How do I check fabric quality?
Ask for a sample and a spec sheet. Check the GSM, width and shrinkage, and ask an independent lab to test it before a large order.
